Cécile Dormeau is a french illustrator.

Her illustrations explore the themes of self-acceptance and body image. She worked in graphic design and advertising before starting her illustrator career.

Besides her personal work, Cécile Dormeau works mainly for publishing and brands, and shares her art and ideas in her talks around the world.

Concerned by the representation of women in the medias and beauty diktats, she starts to draw women, just as they are, in 2015.

She explores women’s complexes and draw them in a poetic or funny way in a colorful style.

She also broaches the subject of street harassment in different gifs, and is contacted by Charlotte Abramow to take part in the videoclip of Angèle « Balance ton quoi » in 2019, where she illustrates the #metoo movement and her vision of feminism.

Where most of the people use instagram to show a perfect side of their life, full of successes and exclusive happiness, Cécile Dormeau likes to use this social media to celebrate imperfection. Drawing things which are not often brought out in the daylight, hidden actions, details that we are too ashamed to share, taboos, and flaws are the main themes that she likes to work with. By drawing people experiencing not so pleasant emotions, Cécile Dormeau hopes her illustrations to be a virtual hug for people feeling insecure, reminding us there is nothing wrong with us if we are experiencing pain or failures.
